Ülle Jaakma and Paavo Kaimre are new vice-rectors

On January 1, former vice-rectors of the Estonian University of Life Sciences were replaced by Ülle Jaakma, vice director of research at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Studies as well as head of the Department of Reproductive Biology, and Paavo Kaimre, director of the Institute of Forestry and Rural Engineering, now serving as vice-rectors of research and  of studies, respectively.

The Rector of the university has commented that both of the new vice-rectors are distinguished professionals: „It has been years since Ülle Jaakma has been working on high level research projects, but she is also very knowledgeable of the problems in research both in Estonia as well as on international level. Paavo Kaimre has worked as director of the Institute of Forestry and Rural Engineering and played part in the management of the university, therefore he knows a lot about work organization at the university and has good contacts with entrepreneurs, which will help to shape the study programs at the university so that they correspond better to the needs of the society.“

The vice-rectors’ term lasts five years.
