Mait Klaassen has been re-elected as EMÜ rector

Mait Klaassen, the current rector of Estonian University of Life Sciences has been re-elected for another term. Out of 169 ballots, 129 showed support to Mait Klaassen.

„Besides researching and studies the university has a key role in keeping Estonian culture and language. We want to be opinion leaders in the field of bio-economy,“ said rector Mait Klaassen.

Mait Klaassen graduated from the former Estonian Academy of Agriculture as a doctor of veterinary medicine, and in 1991-1993 he was professor and head of Internal Diseases Department of Veterinary Institute. He has been rector of Estonian University of Life Sciences in 2008-2017 and 1993-1997 (formerly Estonian University of Agriculture).

The new term will begin on January the 1st, 2018, and will last five years. The inauguration ceremony will take place in January 2018.
