Welcome new international students!

For our new international students, the school year starts slightly earlier than for others. Traditionally, the Office of Academic Affairs organises an Orientation Week and this year is no different.

Exchange students will start with their programme on August 26th and international degree students will join them on Monday, August 30th.

During the orientation week, new students will learn about our study system, about Estonian culture and language, they will visit the Estonian National Museum and the charming town of Elva and will of course get to know our campus and the city of Tartu. One of the highlights of the programme will definitely be our rector Mait Klaassen’s reception at Tartu City Museum. Even though the weather has not been very welcoming, hopefully we at EMÜ can all give a warm welcome to our new students.

The largest number of students are from Finland and other very strongly represented countries include Nigeria, France, Poland, Bangladesh and the Netherlands. Altogether, we’re expecting about 150 new international students this autumn.

During indoor events, COVID-19 safety measures will be followed and COVID-19 vaccination certificates will be checked and rapid testing will be organised.
