The aim of the cooperation agreement of the Baltic Network of Technology Transfer Offices is to promote knowledge and technology transfer between research and development institutions, companies and the public sector. In order to achieve this goal, it is planned to create an online platform where the parties will present the capabilities and needs of their institutions, thus creating a good breeding ground for better development and dissemination of innovative technologies.
In order to achieve this goal, it is also planned to organize both domestic and foreign events in cooperation with the Baltic universities, to inform the public about the nature of technology transfer and to offer better access to research and development institutions for entrepreneurs and the public sector.
Since 2016, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has provided training to employees of the technology transfer units of the Baltic universities in the areas of intellectual property management, patenting, start-up companies, commercialization of research results and licensing. The development of the competencies of technology transfer units has also been supported by the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Patent Offices.
