Food technology students’ team KESE got second place in NOBALIS Demo Day
Demo Day of NOBALIS project took place on 15th Dec. Demo Day was the final event of NOBALIS Entrepreneurship and Innovation Capacity Development Program this fall.
The program was open to students and staff of the 5 universities participating in the NOBALIS project and supports the development of ideas related to food, biotechnology and bioresources. The first edition of the program took place virtually in autumn 2022 and combined an idea hackathon in September, followed by 3 development sessions with mentors and a presentation of ideas on Demo Day.
6 student and 2 staff teams competed with their ideas. Estonian University of Life Sciences was presented by a 5-member student team KESE. Members Sander Liiva, Jürgen Vahter, Egert Pihlak, Stiven Vatin, Martin Pent worked on developing a protein bar from Canola. The team won the second place and the prize from the Estonian University of Life Sciences for the student team is StartUpDay tickets. First place went to the Swedish student team Unwasted (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences), who are working on using coffee grounds for mushrooms.
