Similarly to Bachelor and Master level students, Doctoral students can also participate in Erasmus+ mobilities. Participating in conferences cannot be funded from the Erasmus programme because there needs to be a specific host institution and in case of a traineeship, you also need to have a supervisor and a work plan. If a conference takes place during the mobility, you're allowed to participate in it but this cannot be the main objective or part of the programme of the Erasmus mobility.
Long-term mobilities
Studying in a partner university for a semester or full academic year
Minimum 2-month traineeship
Short-term mobilities for PhD students
- 5-30 days
- Good for running tests, visiting a library or your supervisor. Short visits connected to your thesis.
- Registered as an Erasmus+ traineeship (need to have a supervisor, detailed programme, etc). Junior researchers also need to do a travel order. Travel expense report after the mobility is not necessary.
Scholarships
1-14. day - 79 EUR per day
15-30. day - 56 EUR per day
Students with fewer opportunities also get a fewer opportunities top-up (100 EUR for 1-14 days / 150 EUR for 15-30 days) and a travel grant based on the distance:
The distance is calculated using the distance calculator of the European Commission
If a student travels to the destination using a green travel method (not by plane, boat or alone in a car and proof needs to be provided to the coordinator of EMÜ), up to 6 more travel days can be added to the general scholarship and mobility period.
